Former NFL offensive lineman Corey Cunningham has died. He was 28 years old.
On Friday, the New York Giants, for whom Cunningham most recently played in 2021 and 2022, issued a statement: “We are saddened to hear of the passing of Corey Cunningham. According to RLS Media, Cunningham was found dead in his New Jersey home on Thursday.
Cunningham played collegiate ball in Cincinnati before being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the seventh round in 2018. He played one season in Arizona before being traded to the New England Patriots, where he played for two years.
On Thursday, former teammate Justin Pugh shared a story on social media about Cunningham’s time with the Giants.
“We would invite him to OL dinner every week even though he wasn’t on the team which never happens,” Pugh wrote. “The team dinner is for the guys on the team only. Except for Corey…just because he was loved by all the guys no matter if you knew him or not! He would tell stories and we would laugh all night long.”
I was in Arizona when we drafted Corey Cunnigham in 2018. He moved to the New York Giants and was living in New Jersey last year.
