Former Championship star, Alexander Isak, and Joshua Zirkzee – Arsenal transfer targets for the summer window

Arsenal have scored 82 goals this season, more than any other team in the English Premier League.

But the Gunners are still expected to make a move for a new striker this summer.

Here, WhoScored.com has picked five players linked with a move to the Gunners in the off-season.

Victor Guqueris – Sporting Lisbon

Since the start of the year, Arsenal have been linked with the signing of Sporting Lisbon striker Victor Guerques, and for good reason.

The Swede has been sensational in the Portuguese league this season, scoring 29 goals and providing a further 10 assists.

As one might expect, Gyokeres is the best-rated player in the division having received a WhoScored.com rating of 8.04.

Jeuqueris’ selflessness is a major reason why Arsenal are interested in the 25-year-old.

The former Coventry man is keen to connect with his teammates, having provided 10 assists from 47 key passes, 12th in the division, while his 66 successful dribbles are the second most in Portugal’s top flight.

Gyokeres is more than capable of burning a hole in the opposition’s back lines, which explains the high level of interest in his services.

Benjamin Sisko – Leipzig

After struggling for regular playing time in the first half of the season, Benjamin Sisko is enjoying a long run in the starting line-up for RB Leipzig and recently scored his 10th league goal of the season in a man-of-the-match performance for FC Heidenheim.

With a £42.7m release clause in his contract that could be triggered this summer, expect a scramble to secure the 20-year-old’s services.

Cisco’s willingness to press down the flanks combined with his consistency in front of goal means interest in his services will be high this summer.

Of the 108 players who have fired 25 or more shots, only Serho Guirassi (32.1 per cent) has a better conversion rate than Cisco (25 per cent) in the Bundesliga this season, while only Harry Kane (8) has scored more headers. Objectives (4).

He is a No.9 with a desire to drift out wide, which suits Arsenal’s wingers. The Slovenian international could be perfect for the Gunners.

Victor Osimhen – Napoli

After scoring an incredible 26 goals in Napoli’s title-winning season under Luciano Spalletti, Victor Osimhen has suffered a poor 2023/24 season having scored just 13 goals in Serie A this season.

Injuries and managerial uncertainty have not helped the Nigerian hitman, however; He looks a far cry from the striker who stole the headlines last season.

However, interest in Osimhen remains high. He has a €120m release clause in the contract he signed last December and in the modern market, that is not a stumbling block with potential suitors willing to spend big to secure the 25-year-old’s services.

However, while Arsenal need a goal-scoring striker, despite their impressive performances in front of goal, Osimhen’s desire to remain in the midfield position could impact any potential endeavor with the Gunners keen to add a more flexible striker to complement Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

Alexander Isak – Newcastle

Newcastle may have to make a major sale this summer to stay in line with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations.

While Bruno Guimarães’ £100m release clause, which comes into effect in the off-season, is the most viable option to raise funds, the rumors surrounding Alexander Isak’s future at St James’ Park are unlikely to die down in the foreseeable future.

The Swede has been a revelation for the Magpies this season, scoring 17 goals in the Premier League, fifth most in the division despite injury restricting Isak to 22 matches.

Among the 137 players who managed at least 25 shots, Isak’s 27.9 per cent conversion rate is third best in the 2023/24 Premier League season, with the 24-year-old proving to be one of the most consistent strikers in the division.

Combined with his tendency to drift towards the left flank, the space he leaves in the final third can be exploited by the wingers at Mikel Arteta’s disposal.

Joshua Zirkzee – Bologna

Joshua Zirkzee tops Bologna’s top four squad and has emerged as a target for Arsenal this summer.

The Dutch striker has scored 11 goals for the Serie A side this season, and Zirkzee has been one of the stars of Thiago Motta’s side.

Having scored just two league goals in his first season with Bologna, the youngster is now the subject of interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and AC Milan as the trio look to strengthen their respective front lines.

And it’s not just Zirkzee’s goals that have helped boost his profile. While the former Bayern player has four assists, that number could be higher if his teammates wore shooting boots regularly.

Only Rafael Leao (17) and Federico Dimarco (14) have created more clear-cut chances than Zirkzee (11) in Serie A this season.

The Bologna man’s game requires improvement, but Arteta has helped improve Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz during his time at the club.

Zirkzee was seen as a long-term project who could complete the Gunners’ front three.
