Ex-MI Star Breaks Silence After “Brain Will Explode If You Play There” Comment Goes Viral

Former India batsman Ambati Rayudu had recently opened up on the difference in culture between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). A six-time IPL winner, Rayudu began his career with MI, where he won three titles in 2013, 2015 and 2017. He then jumped ship and joined CSK, ending his IPL career on a high with three more titles, including last year’s title. Before announcing his retirement. Sharing his views on the contrasting environments in the two franchises, Rayudu said that playing for MI is a little more difficult than doing the same with CSK.

“If we have to talk about culture, CSK is more process-focused. They don’t analyze results much. Their moods and mood swings are not because of results. MI is a little different. MI mostly wants to win, and their team culture is like everything depends on winning, they have a culture.” Jeetna hai hai (Winning is a must).

Rayudu suggested that while CSK has a much better environment for player development, playing for MI can make your “mind explode”.

“CSK and MI have different cultures, but at the end of the day, they both work hard. I feel CSK has a much better environment. You can play there for a longer period. If you play in MI for a long time, it’s great,” he said. “Your brain will explode,” Jayga added.

However, Rayudu has now made a clarifying post on X, saying his comments about MI were “taken out of context”.

“My comments were taken out of context with regards to Mumbai Indians. All I meant was that MI’s processes are different and there is positive pressure through which a player is molded, excels and becomes a complete player. The track record shows the kind of talent that MI has produced for India. I have loved the years My 8 mi.. I am always grateful,” Rayudu posted on X.

With MI struggling this season under new skipper Hardik Pandya, Rayudu also urged the franchise to win some matches.

“Please win some matches quickly,” he added in the post.
